Valentine's Day Reservations

Get Busy Guys . . . Half of People Will Make Valentine's Day Reservations More Than a Week in Advance, and Two Thirds Will Spend at Least $100:

If you want to have a successful Valentine's Day, it's pretty simple:  Plan ahead and spend more.  A survey by OpenTable.com found that 53% of people plan to make Valentine's Day reservations more than a WEEK in advance.

--The good news is that you have two options this year.  Valentine's Day is on a Tuesday, which isn't the best night for going out.  Only 47% of people say they're going to celebrate Valentine's Day on February 14th.

--One in four people are moving the holiday to the Saturday before, and plan to go out on February 11th instead.

--If you're not sure where to MAKE those reservations, 35% of people say Italian food is the most romantic Valentine's Day meal.  25% said French food, 11% said American, and 8% said fondue.  (???)

--As for what to order if you want to get lucky, no surprises here:  Three in four people say that wine or champagne is the thing that puts them most in the mood at Valentine's dinner.  Chocolate came in second at 13%.

--Valentine's Day spending is on the rise, too.  93% of people say they'll either match the amount they spent last year, or take it up a notch.  And two in three people say they'll spend at least $100.  10% are going over $200.  (PR Newswire)
